Food, drinks and tobacco sales reported a gross increase of 21,7% in the first seven months of 2016 and a 21,3% seasonally adjusted advance compared to the same period of last year, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics.
In July, sales of food and beverages increased by 9,9% as gross series and by 10.7% depending on the number of working days compared to July of last year.
Compared to June, sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered in July an advance of 2,1% as gross series and an decrease of 2% as adjusted series.
Overall, the turnover of retail trade (except for motor vehicles and motorcycles) reported in the first seven months of 2016 an increase of 16,9% as gross series and of 16.3% depending on the number of working days and seasonality compared to the same period of last year, according to INS.
